The China Open Instruction Ecology (RISC-V) Alliance (abbreviated as CRVA, hereinafter referred to as "the Alliance") aims to bring together enterprises and institutions and related social groups engaged in RISC-V instruction sets, architectures, chips, software, machine applications and other aspects of the industry chain to voluntarily form a national, comprehensive, joint, non-profit association. It is a national, comprehensive, joint and non-profit organization.
### Introduction to the Alliance
As a prominent representative of open source chip technology in recent years, the RISC-V open instruction set architecture (hereinafter referred to as "RISC-V instruction set") has received widespread attention from various fields at home and abroad. The China Open Instruction Architecture (RISC-V) Alliance (abbreviated as CRVA, hereinafter referred to as "the Alliance") aims to bring together enterprises and institutions engaged in RISC-V instruction sets, architectures, chips, software, complete applications and other aspects of the industry chain, as well as relevant social groups, to voluntarily form a national, comprehensive, joint, non-profit association. The Consortium will focus on the RISC-V instruction set. The Alliance will focus on the RISC-V instruction set, with the mission of serving the community of human destiny, the goal of promoting the development of open source ecology, with key backbone enterprises and research institutes as the main body, integrating resources from all sides, through the deep integration of industry, academia, research and application, in an attempt to promote collaborative innovation and research, promote the application and promotion of RISC-V related technologies and products, explore institutional innovation, and promote the rapid development of RISC-V ecology in China. The Alliance aims to promote the rapid development of the RISC-V ecosystem in China, so that China can get rid of the unfavorable situation that the core chip design, intellectual property rights and process technology are restricted by others as soon as possible. The Alliance is supported by the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "ICTC"). Founded in 1956, the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICTC) is the first academic institution in China specialising in comprehensive research in computer science and technology, and is regarded as the cradle of China's computer industry. The Institute of Computing, CAS successfully developed China's first general-purpose digital electronic computer and formed the R&D base for high-performance computers in China. The first general-purpose processor chip in China was also born in the Institute of Computing, CAS. In recent years, the Institute of Computing, CAS has been actively involved in research and engineering practices based on the RISC-V instruction set, and has become one of the early members of the RISC-V International Foundation, and the relevant research results have been gradually opened up in the community, thus gaining a high academic status in the field of RISC-V instruction set-related research and development at home and abroad, and gradually generating social and economic impact. The Alliance Preparation Group, with the assistance of the supporting units, has conducted research and analysis on the general idea of the Alliance construction, main work and organization and management, and drafted the Alliance constitution; meanwhile, with the strong support of the initiating member units, the preliminary preparatory work of the Alliance has been successfully pushed forward, and it is proposed to hold the Alliance inaugural meeting and launch ceremony at the World Internet Conference 2018. The Institute of Computing, Chinese Academy of Sciences will continue to undertake the main work of the Alliance Secretariat in the future, providing funding, personnel and office location and other aspects of deployment and protection.
