The previous chip market was basically dominated by ARM and X86. The x86 architecture dominates the global field of high-performance computing, while ARM dominates mobile computing. As for other chip architectures, they can all be ignored. In front of these two major architectures, there is no sense of existence and they cannot pose a threat at all. It can only be said to be a play. ![](././../../images_dir/1681813794/1.png) However, starting from 2022, the situation has changed a bit. The emerging RISC-V has become the third largest chip architecture, with shipments exceeding 10 billion by 2022. More importantly, the institution predicts that it will achieve a shipment volume of 80 billion by 2025. From the perspective of shipment volume, chip types, performance, and so on, it seems that it can already compete with ARM and X86. ![](././../../images_dir/1681813820/2.png) At present, RISC-V chips are not only used in the low-power AlOT field, but also cover scenarios such as high performance, high energy efficiency, and real-time reliability. From a market perspective, RISC-V chips are also used by numerous manufacturers in fields such as servers, PCs, IoT, AI, etc. It can be said that from this perspective, they are no less than ARM and X86 chips. Even in terms of adaptability, RSIC-V is even better than the X86 chip, after all, in terms of low power consumption and other aspects, RSIC-V has advantages over the X86 chip. ![](././../../images_dir/1681813844/3.png) Of course, more importantly, under the fierce competition among these three major chip architectures, Chinese chip manufacturers have finally gained their voice, and their performance in RISC-V chips is very outstanding. In the past, X86 chips were mostly based on Intel/AMD, while ARM chips were often stuck in the neck by ARM. If you want to cut off the supply, you can cut it off. Authorization was still divided into versions, and it all depends on ARM's face. But RISC-V chips are different. RISC-V chips are open source and free, and can be used by everyone without getting stuck. ![](././../../images_dir/1681813871/4.png) Chinese manufacturers have also seized this point, and everyone has joined in, such as Huawei, Alibaba, Baidu, ZTE, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other enterprises and institutions, which are adopting the RISC-V architecture to develop their own chips and break away from dependence on foreign architectures. Chinese companies account for 80% of the senior members of the RISC-V Foundation, and out of the 25 global directors, 9 members come from China. From 2022, out of the over 10 billion RISC-V chips shipped globally, Chinese manufacturers have produced over 5 billion, accounting for over 50%. It can be seen that in this three major architecture battle, Chinese manufacturers have finally made their voices heard, no longer just ARM and X86.
